FC PLATINUM coach Norman Mapeza maintained his fine run when he guided his side to victory over visiting Whawha maintaining pressure on Castle Lager Premier Soccer league pacesetters Chicken Inn who are leading the race with four points.

The platinum miners will meet the Gamecocks in their next league match. Obrey Chirwa was the toast of the day as he scored fourth and 81st minute brace with defender Elvis Moyo scoring the other goal. Zambian import Chirwa dispossessed Raymond Horongwa’s intended back pass to goal keeper Stanley Chakawana to slot the ball into the empty nets.

Chirwa could have added another goal when he dribbled past the Whawha captain Blessed Chikwekwete in the 29th minute but this time the goalkeeper was impressive as he narrowed the angle that saw Chirwa missing the target.

Chirwa then made amends when he drove the final nail in the Whawha coffin in the 81st minute. The hard running striker won possession and left Chikwekwete for dead before he unleashed a shot that Chakwana only managed to collect from the back of the nets.

Elvis Moyo scored the second goal for platinum miners from a free kick from the right that was won in the 57th minute when Mudehwe was hacked down.
