THE end of the chilling winter is finally approaching while August waits with sublime concerts that are set to explode and bring back night life at the City of Kings.

The winter might have kept entertainment lovers as prisoners in their homes but that comes to a remarkable end this Friday with tremendous Southern Africa Music and Arts festival (SAMA) concert at City Hall Car park.

South African House music sensation and Busy Signal will share the stage with local hot artists such as Mzoe7, Cal_Vin and dancehall king Winky D in an event set to blow the public away.

Thousands of Zimbabweans are relishing seeing the Jamaican superstar Reanno Devon Gordon better known as Busy Signal who has really became a dominant force in reggae music, and has won support globally for his hit songs Missing you, Night shift, One more night and Gambler.

After this blockbuster SAMA concert, attention will extensively be directed to 12 August where Hip hop and House music genres will divide Bulawayo into two and stimulate the rivalry between the two music genres.

Elite 400 will host the annual Made in Bulawayo2 hip hop concert which has been rated as the biggest rap event across the country. The concert will feature local hip hop superstars namely Benny Jones, Floppy X, Asaph, Barbz, Poy, Thorne and Cal_Vin.

On that same night, South Africa’s Kabelo Motsamai better known by his stage name Prince Kaybee will be performing at Eden Night Club. The House music sensation has won African hearts through his blockbuster songs such as Better days, Charlotte, Beautiful love, Friend zone and Love affair.

His album Better days turned gold last year and eventually won the best album of the year in last year’s Metro FM Awards (MMA). It will be the singer’s first tour in Zimbabwe since he first made his debut in 2016 making his Zimbabwean debut a not to miss concert.

The Charlotte hit maker will be backed up by local talented DJs namely DJ Kananjo, DJ Keezy and the event will kick off at 7pm although the much waited stellar performance of Kaybee will wow fans later that night.

Participants from the two concerts said they were focusing on making their respective concerts a success rather than worrying too much on the turnout of people. The award winning rapper Cal_Vin said he was aware of Prince Kaybee concert but was confident that the Made in Bulawayo2 concert will succeed with the purchasing of tickets being impressive so far.

“Kaybee concert is likely to start later while the Made in Bulawayo2 will kick off around 5pm, so people can actually attend our concert and later turn up for Prince Kaybee concert. The buying of tickets has been great; we also have companies which seek to promote hip hop music by buying tickets and distributing them to people. We are not by any means competing against Prince concert at Eden. All we want is to celebrate the growth of hip hop music in Bulawayo and promote local content,” said Cal_Vin.

The Ingwebu ambassador and rapper Floppy X who will also dazzle the stage at the Made in Bulawayo2 concert also said they were not worried of Prince Kaybee concert and it was up to the fans to attend the concert which they liked.

“Made in Bulawayo will be lit, it is the best hip hop line up you can ever attend across the country. However, the power is with supporters, they are the ones who are free to do what they want with their money,” he said.

From Prince Kaybee camp, DJ Keezy said Hip hop and House music are two different genres of music, thus there was no problem having the two concerts on the same day in Bulawayo.

“Hip hop and House music are two different things, House music followers will be at Prince Kaybee concert, and the same with Hip hop fans. We haven`t even considered the Made In Bulawayo concert an impending problem to our concert, our focus is to tighten the screws so that fans can truly witness something special at Eden,” he said.
