HIGHLANDERS Royals Football Club are the winners of the inaugural Fortune “Fokoza” Ncube football tournament held at Entumbane Ground yesterday after they saw off Magwegwe 4-2 on penalties in the final.

After going to the break at 0-0, Bosso Royals were the first to find the back of the net when Nandipa Nyandoro pounced on a loose ball to beat the keeper. However, with the match seemingly heading towards the Royals’ way Magwegwe levelled the matters after Pamela Nkomo broke free on the left flank after she was set up via a defence splitting pass from the middle of the park to beat an advancing goalkeeper.

A few minutes later the referee blew to end the game which was later followed by the dreaded penalty shoot-out.

Bosso Royal players held their nerves to score four of their spot kicks while Magwegwe missed the target twice, coming right in a similar number of spot kicks to surrender the game.

On their way to the final, Magwegwe beat Entumbane on penalties after the game ended 0-0 in regulation time while Bosso Royals edged Biya and Friends Academy 1-0.

Guest of honour, Mighty Warriors coach Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda advised the girl child to keep on working harder if they harbour any intentions of rubbing shoulders with the elite in the game.

The founder, Fortune Ncube thanked the community leaders, members of the SRM Mining Company as well all members of the  corporate world who helped to make the event a success.
