GOALS from forwards Pasca Manhanga and Tsepo Ranthokoane secured How Mine’s first victory of the season as they overcame ZPC Kariba in Match Day Two of the 2016 Castle Lager Premier Soccer at White City Stadium yesterday.

However, How Mine coach Kelvin Kaindu said his team was still work in progress and there was more to be improved before they could reach their full potential, and that the win was a confidence booster as they brace for league champions Chicken Inn in their next fixture.

Kuda Musharu proved to be the toast of How Mine as he provided both goals on either side of the break, first setting Manhanga in the 24th minute who beat Takabva Mawaya in between the posts for ZPC.

The visitor’s Never Tigere nearly put himself on the score sheet in the 37th minute when he took a free kick and his dipping shot went just wide.
The two sides came back from the break with attacking intent and young Adolf Muganyi side netted the ball in the 49th minute.

Ranthokoane added the woes on his former team when he released a curving shot from the left after receiving the ball on the stroke of full time from Musharu, sending the How Mine fans into delirium.

“I think it’s good that we have managed to score four goals in two matches when we are yet to reach where we want to be. There is still a lot to be covered and although we won it was a difficult match. The win certainly gives us confidence going forward,” said Kaindu.

Kaindu spoke highly of Muganyi, son to former Masvingo, AmaZulu and Railstars left winger Ackim, who was part of the promising youngsters at the gold miners adding his team would be featuring several youthful players going forward.

The product of Coolin Nyambiya’s Young Flying Stars showed a lot of promise after he was included in the first team for last week’s match against Bulawayo City, which saw him get another starting berth yesterday.

ZPC coach, Sunday Chidzambwa said they made silly mistakes which saw them let in easy goals adding the squad had improved from what he had last year.

“We let in easy goals that we shouldn’t have at this level and although we came out well in the second half and piled on the pressure they managed to punish us on the break and I think it’s something we would be working on before our next match,” he said.

How Mine missed marksman, Charles Sibanda who was given time off following the death of his brother, Johnstone Sibanda, a winger of note who turned out for Highlanders juniors and later Railstars.
