HWANGE Football Club and Indlovu Iyanyathela are through to the semi-finals of the Zimbabwe Football Association Southern Region Division One Wafa Wafa knockout competition after the two teams won their quarter-final matches played yesterday.

At the Colliery Stadium, the Bongani Mafu-coached Hwange overcame ZPC Hwange 3-1 on penalties after the two teams were deadlocked 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes. Indlovu Iyanyathela thumped Casmyn 3-1 in Turk Mine.

In matches lined up for this afternoon, Bosso90 meet Ajax Hotspurs in an early kickoff at White City Stadium, which is also the venue for the clash between Arenel Movers and Emakhandeni Pirates.

According to the draw conducted last week, Indlovu Iyanyathela will square off against the winner of the match between Arenel Movers and Emakhandeni Pirates.

Hwange are eagerly waiting to know which team is victorious between Bosso90 and Ajax Hotspurs as they will face the winner in the last four of the tournament whose champion will get US$3 000.

Semi-final dates for the knockout tournament will be announced soon but matches are not taking place this year with teams to take a two-week break for the festive season.

The tournament is being used to  test the preparedness of the Zifa Southern Region Division One teams ahead of the start of the league on 15 January.
