Austria-BASED Zimbabwean music group Insingizi will be performing at the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games official opening ceremony which will be held at Planai Stadium in Schladming, Austria.

Insingizi will be the only African act performing at the ceremony and have been allocated a 12-minute slot in which they will perform music from their three albums; Voices of Southern Africa volumes one and two and African Harmonies.

“We are honoured to announce that we will be performing at the opening ceremony of the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Austria on 18 March 2017. We are excited to be performing as the only act from Africa. Our performance slot is 12 minutes long,” reads a statement released to Sunday Life by Insingizi.

The group joins other performers to grace the games which will run from 14 to 25 March. Apart from the artistes’ performances, the marching in of all 107 delegations in the Planai Stadium, the Special Olympics flag, the Special Olympics oath and the “Flame of Hope” are just a few highlights of the special event. This year’s theme is “Heartbeat of the world”.

Insingizi are a multi-international award winning trio made up of Vusa Mkhaya Ndlovu, Dumisani Ramadu Moyo and Blessings Nqo Nkomo, all from the city of Bulawayo. They have received positive reviews from esteemed bodies across the world.

Together they have performed in France, Germany, and the United States of America, United Kingdom among other countries. Their music is a fusion of Acappella, Imbube, Traditional, Folk and World and their music has quite often been featured in documentaries.

After the Olympics, they are set to perform in Germany, Croatia and other parts of Austria before the year ends.
