HIGHLANDERS centre back, Charlton Siamalonga will miss the first two weeks of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League action after sustaining an injury in training.

The club’s doctor, Hillary Tshuma said the defender received a knock on the foot resulting in tendonitis a week ago and they have given him time to rest and recover from the injury.

Siamalonga will only be available after two weeks.

The defender will miss the opening match against Rhinos at Barbourfields on Sunday and the away game against Herentals.

Speaking during the club’s weekly press conferences, Tshuma revealed Nigel Mukumbe and Godfrey Makuruse, who both missed the friendly against Masvingo due to injury are back at training and will be available for selection for Sunday’s game.

“Nigel sprained his ankle but he is now back at training after we had given him some rest, Makaruse is also training with the team after he strained his left thigh during the ZNA Charity Shield final against Dynamos.

“Striker, Thabo Lunga is expected to undergo a late fitness test on Friday to ascertain his condition after he sprained his right hand,” he said.

Tshuma revealed striker, Timothy Zivave is also ruled out of action after sustaining a fracture early last month and undergoing surgery.

“Timothy sustained a fracture when he collided with another player and underwent surgery in Harare to wash out the sinus on 9 February. At the time he was given six weeks to recover and this is his fifth week so he has one week to go before full recovery. We did tests on him and they indicated his recovery is on schedule,” he said.
