Luveve man in court for theft of trust property

The Sunday News

A MAN from Luveve, Bulawayo was arrested after he sold a property he was supposed to repair.

Ronal Sachirera (38) who is self-employed as a carpenter is said to have sold Charity Zimbwa’s (33) table and chairs.

The matter came to light when Sachirera appeared before Western Commonage residential magistrate Mr Shepherd Mjanja last week to answer to charges of trust property as defined in section 113(2) (d) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.

Sachirera was advised to replace the property.

While prosecuting Ms Melisa Dube told the court that at an unknown date in September 2020, Sachirera was given a table and four kitchen chairs to repair. He was also paid US$40 to buy the material.

The court heard that Sachirera failed to hand over the said property but used the property for his personal use by selling the table and chairs to another person.

The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the property.

The value of the stolen property is $19 200 and all was recovered. — Angel Nkomo
