Magacha releases Wonererwai Jeso album

AFTER a three-year sabbatical, gospel musician Sabastian Magacha returns with an album dubbed Wonererwai Jeso which was launched last Saturday at Theatre in the Park, Harare Gardens.

The album has 14 tracks featuring some of Zimbabwe’s prominent musicians who include Jah Prayzah, Aleck Macheso and Prudence Katomeni-Mbofana.

Business moguls, musicians, comedians, producers and socialites thronged the event among them Samantha Kureya known as ‘Gonyethi’, Oskid and Thembelani, McDee. Magacha revealed that he sold more than 2000 CDs and new flash lock at the launch.

“We as Saba music we are so much pleased with the sellout of the new album. We managed to sell more than 2000 CDs and the new flash lock.

Everyone who was at the launch managed to buy a CD as well as t-shirts and that’s a good response,” Magacha said.

One of the prominent businessmen in Harare, Chamu Chiwanza took a bid and walked away with $800 worth of CDs followed by the the Zim Praise CEO Joseph Madziyire who bought CDs worth $4oo.

“The support that I got from people was so much overwhelming. I didn’t think people would buy so much of my new album. I remember that there are people who came and bought four boxes of CDs and each box had 600 CDs .This is a breakthrough for every musician and it comes as an amazing feeling for one to experience such,” he said.

Apart from his sellout Magacha gave out a good performance with his band ‘African Joy’ people sang and danced along to the music as they ministered on stage.

Magacha managed to sing some of his songs from the new album and was joined on stage by Janet Manyowa, his younger brother Tinashe Magacha and Nyasha Kaseke.

“I have been getting calls from different DJs nationwide and we are getting comments on our social media platforms as well as dancing videos which are amazing. We are so much honoured by this reaction as we thrived so hard in making this album to be what it is today,” he said.

He added that his album could not have been a reality if it wasn’t for the artistes who agreed to feature in it.

“I would like to thank my brother Jah Prayzah for coming through on the song ‘Mweya musvene’, the way we recorded the song; he gave his 100% into the song as well as Alick Macheso and Prudence Katomeni Mbofana gave their best. That is why we are having so much good and positive response to this album,” he said.
