IT is everyone’s dream to live in a huge elegant home that looks expensive. However, having a small space does not mean shuttering your dreams, you can still make that small space look like a million bucks.

Here are some of the tips to use to spruce up your home decor without draining your wallet.

For your home décor to look orderly, every room needs a focal point. If you are having difficulties to select one item, there are easy and cheaper ways to do it like focusing the room using eye-catching wall art. This will help you to spend less by creating your own, paint huge paintings. You can select few paintings and make a collection of them, hang them on the same wall or get one oversized piece that will have a great effect.

Create an illusion by using mirrors as well as rugs. Your space will look bigger when you place a big area rug that will cover almost all the space. If your area rug is not that big to make the statement you want to achieve attach other rugs beside it. Neutral colours and mirrors work well in this scenario.

Placing a mirror behind a couch where it can be seen is a perfect way to making a small space appear bigger.

You will never go wrong with nature. It becomes more effective if your home bathes in sunlight and has beautifully natural bones . . . use that element to your advantage. Neutral colours combined with natural element such as natural light will make your home look like a million bucks without you spending a dime. Add a graphic touch by applying accessories such as pillows with chic colours, sizes and patterns.

Avoid congesting your shelves or cabinets with ornaments. You can let a few books stand upright and place tall beautiful vases to avoid overcrowding your shelves. To give book cases a personality add a few objects or antiques of different colours and shapes. To make your space look sophisticated, place a chair beside your shelves for relaxing.

Make your home look posh by simply painting one wall using a dark colour. This will create a perfect focal point when done behind the headboard. The textured accent wall will add warmth to the room and give it a cultured look. This means cutting costs as you will only paint one side of your wall instead of the whole room. You can also use wallpaper if you like.

Do not be afraid to put window treatments, especially if you have an awesome view. Avoid bright colours and frame the view with neutral curtains so the eye is drawn towards the window.

Decorate rooms with natural colours, adding pops of colour and texture with accessories. Incorporate shades of white, grey and beige. Incorporate different designs from different ages, such as two white chairs. — Additional information from Online sources.
