AUTHORITIES have launched a manhunt for a Harare man who is suspected to owning a Facebook page and personal blogspot which he uses to spread falsehoods about the country.

This comes as the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade pushes for the expeditious enactment of the Patriotic Bill to stop unpatriotic and disloyal Zimbabweans from disparaging the country under the guise of freedom of speech.

Over the years some activists have been globetrotting, on the payroll of Western countries, on a mission to stir international sentiment against Zimbabwe.

Tamuka Makunde who stays in Monavale, is suspected to own the Facebook page under the name Right to Dignity Congress and also a Blogspot named; Right to Dignity, which he has been using to post a number of articles criticizing the government as well as spreading falsehoods on the country.

Some of the articles published in the blogspot include; Independence, Job Sikhala arrested and another titled; Outcry as Zimbabwe politician’s daughter sworn in as commissioner of electoral body.

Police sources revealed that Makunde’s comments on his Facebook page had also attracted the wrath of authorities.

“Tamuka Makunde is wanted for questioning over his bogspot and Facebook pages, it is believed he has been deliberately spreading falsehoods using these two platforms, some of his articles have been red flagged as not being accurate at all. We have failed to locate him at his place of residence but police are following various leads so as to possible locate him,” said the police saource.

However, Makunde’s colleagues revealed that he felt unfairly targeted as in most cases he would reproduce articles that were written by mainstream media houses.

“As is he has gone into hiding because he is not even sure what will happen to him as all he did was reproduce articles and comment on some of government policies,” said a friend who declined to be named.
