Mindset, a spiritual gateway

The Sunday News

Sunday sermon with Apostle Chisale
Greetings beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. Philippians 2:5, “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus”.

When we look at the life of Jesus we discover that he had a different mind. We see him at the age of 12 when he was in the temple speaking to the elders of the church. His age mates were probably playing at the market place. At that age he was not only talking to them, but he was also teaching them scriptures. That tells us that he was carrying the mind of his father God. The mind of the kingdom. I can imagine him reasoning with learned people who had studied philosophy and he was proving them wrong. In other ways he was carrying an extraordinary mind.

A mind that was advanced for his age and for his age group. This is the mind that Paul is calling all believers to have.

The bible tells us in the book of Isaiah 11:12, “And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD”. Meaning that the mind is a spiritual gateway that both God and the devil can use. So Jesus was carrying a different mind which was the mind of God, a mind that was free from fear. We should understand that a lot of believers have been limited or blocked from reaching certain levels because of their mindset.

They have been constructed in such a way that when we see small things, our minds magnify it to become big. So the mind is a spiritual gate that when we open it to the negative our lives become a disaster. If we open it to the positive our mind will produce great things. There are certain levels that we cannot enter unless our minds are trained or schooled in the way Jesus was.

Long back we used to hear preachers saying God wants your heart only. But I have good news that God wants the whole of us. Our mind, our heart and our body. If we give God our heart only, our mind can limit the greatness of God in us because the mind has got a way of building a structure or destroying it.

We see in the life of Jesus that he was a man who feared nothing because his mind was trained in such a way that he was not afraid of evil. We see in Luke 4 on the mountain of temptation that when the devil tempted him, his mind was full of the word. He would say ‘it is written’ even though he was the word.

There is a certain mindset that we need to reach, where the impossible become possible. I have discovered that a man can build in two levels. Firstly in the mind and secondly in the physical. So meaning that you cannot build if your mind has not yet built whatsoever that you are believing God for.

This means that when we are praying, we also pray with our minds. Our mouth may be powerful in declaring what we want from God and what the word of God says, whilst our mind as well is praying a different prayer saying, ‘this thing cannot happen’ and we contradict ourselves. Our mouth in prayer says ‘God is able’, but our mind says ‘this is impossible, God cannot heal this cancer ’.

Then we discover that our prayers are not answered because our mind has prayed a different prayer that God has answered of saying that this is impossible. So we see the mind plays a big role in our prayers. It has closed certain levels that God wants us to reach. Maybe for many of you God has answered our mind than our mouth.

We need to check ourselves. Ask yourself why you are still at the same level. Is it because of your mind which will be saying ‘It’s impossible`. We see in Genesis 11:4, where the people wanted to build a tower or a city which would reach to heaven. Firstly they informed each other. Having done that their minds had to accept that they could build a city that could reach heaven. That is called transformation of the mind. You will discover that the city had not yet been built. But as God was seated in heaven, the bible tells us in verse 5 that the Lord had to come down to see the city.

Mind you the city had not yet been built, but in their minds it was already built. That’s why God had to come down.

We see in verse 6 the statement that God spoke will show us that building had not yet started in the physical but already the Lord saw it and said, “And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do”. So meaning that there is power of imagination.

No spirit, no devil and no demon can restrict such imagination. That’s why God had to come down. Romans 12:2 says, “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God”.

I would like to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that he is your Lord and saviour, and you shall be saved.

May God bless you all and this beautiful nation of Zimbabwe. Amen.
