A FREE for all Africa Day traditional fashion extravaganza and modelling fund-raising event for the King Mzilikazi commemorations is on the cards.

The spectacular pageant is organised by Mthwakazi “Ka” Mzilikazi Cultural Association.

The fund-raising is meant to raise funds for King Mzilikazi’s commemorations which are held annually in the first week of September.

Dubbed Miss Mthwakazi 2016, the event is slated for the Bulawayo Polytechnic’s Beit Hall on the eve of Africa Day on 25 May.

Felicity Dube representing “Ka”Mzilikazi Cultural Association said this was an open opportunity for all models and designers who were usually left out in other pageants in the country.

“There is no age limit and no particular dress code, participants should just wear what they feel like as long as it is about their tribal dress. We are celebrating our rich cultural diversity from all walks of life and this event is for all models and designers who are at times left out in other occasions,” said Dube.

Dube added that this the first time they are hosting such an event.

According Dube the proudly Zimbabwean show will also have entertainers from various cultural genres.

“Entertainment will be provided by various traditional artistes which includes traditional dance, poetry and singing. Like any other beauty pageant there will be the first, second and third princess and there are prices to be won,” she added.

The Mthwakazi “Ka” Mzilikazi Cultural Association has been commemorating King Mzilikazi life for the past 16 years.
