South Africa-based musician Lincoln Ncube aka Linx Kariloss and his BMC ensemble says his new found musical sound always puts people on their toes on the streets of Johannesburg.
According to Ncube his wholly spewed sound dubbed Ngoma DzeGokwe is fast gaining popularity among Zimbabweans in South Africa as they can easily identify themselves with the bits, message and associated dancing routines.
The multi-talented dreadlocked artiste’s mooted sound is a fusion of various traces of Zimbabwean musical sounds which he claimed appeals to every Zimbabwean.
In interview with Sunday Life recently, Ncube revealed that the idea was meant rekindle the waning picture of Gokwe.
“Ngoma DzeGokwe is a sound in the making, it is a fusion of different musical sounds. Gokwe is undoubtedly one of the biggest areas in Zimbabwe which is representative of all if not most ethnic groups in Zimbabwe. The idea of Ngoma DzeGokwe is to accommodate everyone in Gokwe and by so doing we have captured the whole of Zimbabwe,” he said.
Ncube brags that his new found fusion is a tag, music lovers both in South Africa and Zimbabwe could not resist as he explains reasons behind the naming of his sound.
“Me being in love with Gokwe means embracing everyone in Zimbabwe. I just had to come up with the name that everyone from Zimbabwe could embrace and everyone who likes good music will understand that Ngoma DzeGokwe is going to hit international charts.
“I had been working with South African urban groovers the likes of TBA,Nox Guni Blush Brown Sugar just to mention a few. In Zimbabwe on my recent projects I have collaborated with King Shaddy, Maggikal, Cal_Vin, Allen Ndoda and Dino Mudondo.”
Responding to questions on his take on bizarre issues which had been a trademark with Gokwe, he said he was on a mission to add positives through cross-cutting music.
“With stranger than fiction episodes emanating from Gokwe, some true and some false it’s a great place. It’s bound to make waves, here is Ngoma DzeGokwe another positive wave. I do dancehall, reggae, hip-hip and Ngoma DzeGokwe.”
