RAPPER POY has embarked on a tactful marketing gimmick in an endeavour to promote his latest album The Realest.

The 15-track album, which his publicist and promoter Merrybirth Ushe of Evolve Twelve said was launched a few weeks ago, is a project that particularly speaks of his experiences in life and in the music industry.

“We have since introduced thoughtful marketing strategies to promote his latest album.

“The album is going for $1 at selected shops around Bulawayo and is also available as per request on social media. We have also engaged a courier for delivery services. We also have souvenirs such as T-shirts and caps with POY’s logo and the album cover as well for fans,” said Merrybirth.

She noted that POY sought to penetrate Harare’s rap scene as well, as he was working on launching his album in the capital soon.

“The album is basically all about him, his journey to the top and also trying to inspire other artistes. In this album he features a wide range of artistes and in some songs he talks of Zimbabwe’s stance towards hip-hop,” said Merrybirth.

The album was recorded and produced in Bulawayo.

POY is a hip-hop artist who started as a freestyle rapper at Plumtree High School, participating in a lot of talent shows, developing his rap skills from free styling to writing songs.

Over the years POY has consistently been actively involved with creating new music and releasing fresh concept albums that continue to evolve and grow with the time.

In this particular album POY is sharper and more creative, appealing to a wide range of hip-hop fans.

POY has always made it a point to shoot quality music videos having worked with directors Andy Cutta and director Blaqs on several music videos, as well as collaborations with local hip-hop artistes Tehn Diamond MC Chita and Mariachi to name a few.

POY also works closely with hip-hop producers Young Stan and Yung Zif who have contributed a lot of music to the new album The Realest.

“The Realest was inspired by hunger, still possessing that raw lyrical hunger as a rapper to spit touching creative rhymes and music, we can send to other hip-hop loving countries with pride. The Realest has universal appeal, it’s not just for Zim, it’s far from some of the senseless material,” said Merrybirth.
