THE Government has called on Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to come back and invest in Zimbabwe so as to help build the country.

Speaking at the launch of Rugare/Hlalani Kuhle Medical Aid in Bulawayo last Wednesday, Bulawayo Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube commended the initiative that was developed by a Zimbabwean who was based in the United Kingdom.

“May I take this opportunity to applaud Ms Quinn Sowa, the founder and director of Rugare/Hlalani kuhle Medical Aid for coming up with this great initiative. The Second Republic under the able leadership of President Mnangagwa will always support and welcome the good initiatives and investments that the sons and daughters of Zimbabwe in the diaspora are bringing home,” said Minister Ncube.

She said the Government was placing great emphasis on the investment and development of the medical health sector to provide better health services to the people. The minister said President Mnangagwa and the Second Republic were inviting all Zimbabweans in the Diaspora to come back and invest in Zimbabwe so as to build the country.

“Today we are indeed proud that one of our own, has listened to His Excellency’s philosophy, ‘Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabaninilo’. If as people of Zimbabwe we don’t make efforts to build our country for the better, no one will come and do it for us.  President Mnangagwa has now and again made a clarion call that, ‘Zimbabwe is open for business.’ This is a call that seeks to re-engage and cement relations and pursue a reform agenda that will attain Vision 2030.  As such, the President has made investing in Zimbabwe lucrative. In light of this, the Government has put in place an appropriate policy and legislative framework to improve our country’s investment climate.”

Minister Ncube commended the birth of the company stating that has resulted in the creation of jobs, while it plans to expand its representation across all major cities in the country.

Bulawayo Mayor, Councillor Solomon Mguni said the initiative signalled great potential that Bulawayo as a city and province has, in terms of incubating incoming businesses. He said as a city they took the health and well-being of the people seriously and welcomed all endeavours from both the public and private sector that complement Government and council’s efforts towards the well-being of the people.

“We are equally excited that this product is being rolled over across the country by our children who grew up in Bulawayo and are based in the diaspora and have thought about ploughing back to the community that brought them up.”

Ms Sowa, a Zimbabwean who was based in UK said she heeded the Second Republic call to invest back home in a bid to ensure the country reaches an upper-middle economy by 2030.

She said their medical aid catered for everyone regardless of their social status and the goal was to ensure the healthcare needs of citizens are taken care of.

The medical aid is underwritten by CellMed Health Medical Fund. It has branches in Bulawayo, Harare, South Africa and UK with their services accessible nationwide.
