NEWLY elected Bulawayo Social Soccer League chairman Ntandoyenkosi Sibindi presented an ambitious road map based on three principles during an Annual General Meeting held at Pata Pata Lounge in Mpopoma last week.

As part of the road map Sibindi explained to the councillors the need for BSSL to be self-sustaining, transparent as well as accountable. The chairman advised the house of their intention to acquire properties for future use by the league, among those a PA system, and a tent, among others. These are expected to start being used during the Champions of Champions tournament which is slated in for the National Unity Day on 22 December.

“Before I contested for this office I took time to go through the history of this league, its rich history is what motivated me to contest for this post. A lot of good things happened back then as seen by the relationship the league enjoyed with the business community, therefore we need to take time and revive that,” said Sibindi.

On the issue of an institutional memory he said it is a necessity for any organisation that is an going concern to have artifacts that identify with it as is the case with other organisations.

“For any organisation to go on we need what we call an institutional memory, as is it we are behaving like there is no memory, there is nothing to show for it as far as when it started, what are some of our achievements are and so on.

“For instance this year we started with the founders’ medal, we want to keep all those as part of the memorabilia including caps, t-shirts all that can form institutional history, remember we are more that 25 years old but sadly there is nothing to show for that. We need to subscribe to such originality, and I also subscribe to that and we need to have a vision of what Chris had when he started this project,” he added.
