Social soccer teams pooled into groups 94 Strivers FC

THE Bulawayo social soccer executive committee elections that were pencilled in for this afternoon have been put on hold due to logistical challenges.

According to the fixtures secretary, Alois Lunga, both elections and preparatory games that were meant to be held this afternoon have been moved to 2 February.

“Due to a number of issues raised by clubs and other factors beyond our control the two pending issues have been moved forward to February.

“Executive committee elections will now be held on 2 February followed by the friendly games the following day.

“After that we expect the incoming fixtures secretary to start working on the games among other issues for the smooth running of the 2019 social soccer season,” said Lunga.

According to the programme, in order to cut costs during the preliminary stages teams will be divided into groups made up of three to four teams, they will then clash in a round robin tournament format.

In group one to be stationed at Khami Maximum Prison, Haydon Games, Glenkara and Inmates will lock horns. At Sotshangane Ground, Wolves, Makwee, Tigers plus Lobels will trade iron and leather under group two while group three at Matshobana Ground will host Matshobana, Shwelele, Pioneer and Real Shwelele. In group four that will be housed at Bango Ground, Mthala, Mayihlome, Congo plus Skippers will also lock horns during these pre season games.

Group five will see Iminyela, West Comm, Pata Pata and Pelandaba weighing each other’s strengths from Ndola Ground.

The other groups are made up of FC Bombers, Funda, Zonke, Man U (group six) who will meet at Esiporweni Entumbane Ground, Zulu Chiefs, Magwegwe, Bullets and Vule Vale (Group seven) at Marisha ground.

In group eight, all Cowdray Park teams, that is Finance, 94 Strivers, Cowdray Park Masters and Fireworks will battle from TM Cowdray Park ground.

Nkulumane, 70 Combination, Siyabangena and Zinwa are in group nine they meet at Phekiwe Ground in Nkulumane.

Isilwane Ground in Pumula North, residents witness Crackers, Old Timers and Santos also doing their thing (Group 10) which leaves Cream Tata, Wembley, Pirates then Brotherhood, Mabuthweni and Kadudu in group 11 and 12 from Lobengula and Desert Grounds respectively.

The last group that is group 13 set for Somhlolo Ground will play host to Edgars, Sekusile and Celtics.
