The Sunday News

This June is going to be warmer than usual on the motorsport scene. The petrol head craze continues with the Nationals pitched for 4 June.

The Public Drags were warming up the tracks for the nationals. Drivers from all over Zimbabwe will be coming to race but mainly its Harare and Bulawayo guys.

The last John love trophy event gave the spectators a good show with the 4age turbo and the Ej20 sizing each other up neck to neck on the straights. When Toyota says Ge, you should get the idea that it is indeed performance at its best. One would think it’s a 1 Jz powered Corolla yet it’s a 1600 4A Ge with a turbo to blow in some more horsepower. Needless to say, Subaru is a beast on its own levels but the Corolla gave it a fight to reckon with. We should see some more action this coming 4th of June.

Bulawayo will be represented by our racing gurus namely Darren Pragji with his 4Age powered Datsun. Stuart Young with young racing’s super boss built racing machine, Darren Winterboer with unmistakable Bmw.

Superbikes are there as well in full force with the likes of Michael Macdonald, Matthew Schultz representing the Bulawayo guys with Bianca Schultz representing the ladies for the suberbikes.

Drivers from Harare include Gary kirk, Rowan white, Richard Robinson just mention a few.

Some more bikers from Harare are expected to grace this prestigious event and this include Uli Meiners, Les Carlsson, Phil Archenoul, Shaun White and Tiffany Fisher representing the ladies.

Bulawayo must come out in their droves to support motorsport.

Petrol-heads out there with the passion for racing must come join the club and feed their passion. New driver are welcome provided they have attended at least two driver’s training days.

These are training sessions by seasoned drivers.

A medical would also be required to be able to take out a day licence in order to compete. New drivers are encouraged to start out in the Ultimate street car class. These cars are just ordinary street cars with the standard seat belts and as usual they must have a Helmet and long sleeves and trousers and closed shoes. Happy Motoring!
