FORMER Home Economics teacher Marry Mindie fulfilled her lifetime ambition of raising women’s standards of living by launching a grooming school in Bulawayo.

The school is named Destiny School of Grooming and has opened its doors to women from all walks of life. Mindie, who was a teacher for 17 years says her passion is to see the girl child being raised to levels “God had ordained them to be”.

“I love the girl child very much. They are usually the disadvantaged and vulnerable and my vision is to produce a girl child who will make men think twice of messing up with them. It is necessary to produce a respectful society with young ladies with direction, character and women of substance,” she said.

Mindie noted that etiquette was one thing that ladies should know and embrace.

“Etiquette means conventional requirement as to social behaviour, a code that defines delimitations and expectations for behaviour according to contemporary commitment,” she said.

She said her school will focus in a whole range of life aspects which include personal hygiene, exercise, diet and etiquette, among others. According to Mindie grooming is the art of taking care of one self’s appearance by bathing, dressing and a whole lot of good behaviour accepted by society.

“A Proverb 31 women is that who is well-groomed in every area, one who is well versed and identifies herself with her spirituality. Women should be taught to understand the principle of giving, the benefits of giving and importance of savings which is an integral aspect of home management.”
