THE Zimbabwe Football Association Matabeleland South province has appointed an interim board to run the provincial association’s affairs awaiting elections to be held during the course of the year as the current leadership’s five year term in office has ended.

Six clubs from Matabeleland South province appointed the former executive to run the association affairs at the Zifa Mat South AGM held last Sunday.

Nkosilathi Ncube will be the interim chairman and will be seconded by Stephen Mhondoro. William Chuma (board member administration), Dumisani Banda (board member finance), Nerio Mupereki (board member development) and Lameck Ndlovu (board member) were also appointed in the provincial leadership.

The interim board led by Ncube gave Central Region, regional and technical coordinator James Marima an ultimatum on when to hold administration courses with clubs, citing that the start of the league on the second week of April should be after these courses have been conducted.

He said this is because they have engaged with renowned football individuals in the country for assistance.

“We are giving the regional coordinator an ultimatum up to March 31 to hold administration courses with Division Two clubs as it helps them to know the way things are done by following the new Zifa Constitution,” said Ncube.

“We have already engaged with Zifa life member Ndumiso Gumede, Kennedy Ndebele and Brian Moyo who have volunteered to conduct these workshops thus if the regional coordinator does not come through in time, we will engage with them so that clubs are equipped with the necessary information amid the start of the league.”

The interim board went on to increase affiliations fees after increasing the number of players and technical staff, teams are to register. New clubs are to pay $375, old clubs $325 from the previous $350 and $300 respectively. Teams are only allowed to register 25 players, five young players and the same number of technical staff. -@mthabisi_mthire
