THE Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA) have released the final 2023 men’s amateur national calendar of events which runs from 21 January to 9 December.
The calendar changed from the provisional one which was released mid-December last year with some tournaments moving dates.
The FBC Zimbabwe Open which initially meant to be the sixth event of the year in April will now be played in May while the Masvingo Open is now to be played before Hillside Masters, Region 5 Golf Championship and Club Championships.
A total of 24 events will take place throughout the year with the first tournament being the Dugmore Trophy at the Bulawayo Golf Club and the last event of the year will be the inter-provincial Filande championship which will take place on a date yet to be confirmed.
All the tournaments were structured in such a way that from one event to the other there is a two weeks’ interval. In instances where the venue of the tournament is to be advised, provinces are urged to rotate hosting of national tournaments as a way of promoting the growth of the sport.
With the Dugmore tournament being the first of the year, it will be followed by the South African Swing tournament which will be in South Africa and the Julius Robinson at Wingate Golf Club.
Jacaranda Challenge is formerly Varse and Bowel Championship while Mashwede Classic is a new tournament. Hwange Open alternates with the Elephant Hills Open.
The other tournaments are as follows: Mawegu Amatuer (Kadoma/ Cam and Motor Mine Golf Clubs), Matabeleland Amateur (Bulawayo Country Club), Masvingo Amateur (Masvingo Golf Club), Hillside Masters (Hillside Golf Club), Region 5 Golf Championship (Botswana), Club Championships (All venues), FBC Open Zimbabwe (Royal Harare and Chapman Golf Courses), Midlands Amateur (Kwekwe Golf Club), Manicaland Amateur (Hillside Golf Club), Chapman Grand Slam (Chapman Golf Club), Zimbabwe Amateur (Royal Harare Golf Club), Roland Park Open (Roland Park Golf Club), Bata Power Open (Gweru Golf Club), Eisenhower Finals (United Arab Emirates), Mashwede Classic (Falcon Golf Club), Jacaranda Challenge (Royal Harare), Harare Amateur (Warren Hills), Hwange Open (Hwange Golf Club), Platinum Classic (Norton Golf Club), Zimbabwe Match Play (Norton Golf Club) and Filande (Inter Provincial).
