THE term ‘‘gold digger’’ from time immemorial has always been confined to describing women who get into relationships for monetary gains, but of late I have noticed that it is now the opposite, as men are now leading in being gold diggers.
Most men have begun to prioritise dollar signs and wealth in a relationship. Money and lifestyle are chief among the concerns of modern day men.
Women are no longer the only ones with “gold digging” ambitions and business strategies, but men have embraced the time-honoured practice with equal resolve.
With most women not alert of the new generation of these men who are gold diggers, they are left in debts, heartbroken and counting their loses.
Where have responsible men disappeared to?
Lately, I have noticed that more and more single men are openly discussing their desire to marry rich women. The trend is worth noting because it represents an inversion of gender roles. It is unfortunate that most women are still in the dark and blinded by love only to realise that they have been used and dumped when it’s already late in life.
Increasingly, enterprising young men are losing faith in the conventional career paths that once guaranteed healthy-sized fortunes, as there seems to be a consensus that all efforts to get rich the old-fashioned way through hard work and ingenuity are futile and the way to go about it is getting a woman who will be your provider.
Some families have even broken up because of such kind of men who just become useless and all they need is to be ‘‘fed’’. A man has to work for his family and the minute you choose to rely on your partner for everything, you seize to be a real man. Note that I am not talking about those ones who would have had some challenges and lost their jobs, but I mean those who choose not to work and rely on a woman.
In this difficult economic climate, people are working whatever schemes they can to ascend the exclusive ranks of high society, the least harmful of which, it appears, involves professing love in exchange for money. It is unfortunate that when women love, most of the times they give their all and men who are gold diggers take advantage of that fact.
Unfortunately for some women, they never get to realise that they have been tricked, as they go on and get married to such kind of useless man. Reality to most women strikes after marriage as they discover they are providers for everything and when they start to complain, these kind of men become abusive. When one finally decides to divorce, she loses a lot of money and property. The gold digger never stops, when he feels he is no longer benefiting, he always jumps to another relationship, leaving the woman with a bleeding heart.
It is high time women watch out for male gold diggers who in most times are charming and do not exhibit any such tendencies. They play their cards very well for the first few dates and once one becomes emotionally invested, they make a swift U-turn and start leaning on the woman for money. If you find that you are suddenly paying a lot more, you should be suspicious as a woman and run to the mountains. Never bleed cash over a man!
Of course it is always difficult to leave a relationship, despite discovering that you are in love with a gold digger as you would have already invested a lot. Better be sad for a short time than to be in a relationship with a man who will suck your blood and the day you wake up broke, dumps you for a better person.
I’m talking of real life issues and women should watch out for gold diggers as they seem to be also the ones taking the LEAD in breaking their hearts and disappointing them a lot!
Women should try and avoid men who are gold diggers as all they are after in life is hooking up with a hard working woman and get rich from the relationship. They are usually clever, making it quite hard to detect that he is a gold digger. Some traits of these gold diggers are that they normally live beyond their means and spend money lavishly once it comes their way, not caring about tomorrow.
Most of them also have a talent of seducing and deceiving women. It is this ‘‘talent’’ of theirs that helps them to easily grab the attention of a woman and get away with whatever they want. Many times its people close to you who recognise that a woman has pressed a wrong button and dealing with a gold digger, so always listen to what other people are whispering and put it into consideration.
No to men who are gold diggers, they must fall!
