CONTEMPORARY musician Peace “BaShupi” Ndlovu who is set to perform in Denmark next month is looking for $5 000 to buy air tickets for three of his band members.
BaShupi, the only African performing at the Svendborg Sound Festival hopes to travel for the event which takes place from August 25 to 27.
After potential sponsors pulled out at the last minute, BaShupi who managed to raise over $10 000 for his and a few members’ tickets said he may not travel with his full nine-member band to the festival.
“I have since secured funds for myself and other band members but need money for the remaining three. We don’t want to leave anyone behind as this is an opportunity for people in Denmark to watch in awe what Zimbabweans can do. This will also be a good experience for the band members. If there’re any airlines or sponsors that can assist, we’ll gladly accept their kind gesture.”
The Godo hit-maker revealed plans to tour other European countries including Sweden, Ireland, Scotland and Holland.
Turning to his musical career, BaShupi said he had since ventured into hip hop with a new single Changani Bag. He said the track had been inspired by American rapper Desiigner with his runaway hit single Panda.
“Trap rap is very popular among the youth and I decided to come up with a song that they can relate to. Like Desiigner’s Panda, Changani Bag has a chorus that is easy to catch,” said BaShupi.
BaShupi who rose to fame with hit-track Godo, which featured Stunner opened his own theatre company in Masvingo called Karanga Arts Promotions.
