FORMER Highlanders striker Zenzo “Zemura” Moyo has been appointed vice-chairman of Bulawayo City Football Club while ex-Bosso secretary-general Horace Ndubiwa has landed a similar position at the newly promoted Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side.
Moyo and Ndubiwa had their appointments confirmed by the Siboniso Khumalo-led Bulawayo City board last week. The vice-chairmanship was previously held by Sipho Masuku while Mvinjelwa Mathuthu is the outgoing secretary. Also roped in is Bhekumuzi Dlodlo who comes in as a committee member, a position that was formerly held by Patrick Ncube.
Club chairman Jerry Sibanda said they were looking for people with an understanding of the game of football hence the decision to bring in Moyo and Ndubiwa.
“We have looked for people with experience, we are really grateful to the guys we had, everything they did in getting the team from Division Three. At this level we need people with experience in running football. Horace Ndubiwa was appointed for his experience. We also needed someone with knowledge and contacts, Zenzo Moyo is known in Zimbabwe and outside the country,’’ said Sibanda.
According to the former Highlanders treasurer, the executive has no fixed term of office as the constitution was yet to be finalised to that effect.
Amakhosi, as City are affectionately known, have also engaged former Highlanders legendary juniors coach Ali “Baba” Dube as one of their development coaches. Dube will work with former Highlanders players Innocent Mapuranga as well as Bruce Tshuma. The duo were retired so that they work on identifying talent full time. Another ex-Bosso player and mentor Barry Daka has been roped in as an advisor for women and juniors as the club looks to balance gender.
