LOCAL rappers continue to work on raising the bars, whereas their music and game is concerned.

Upcoming rapper Calvin Treazy, born Calvin Tatenda Nyamidzi is showing great potential in the local scene if his most recent releases are anything to go by.

The 25-year-old rapper released his debut project — Young and Getting it in September 2016, which featured artistes such as Maestro IV, Cal_Vin, Maya and Lee McHoney.

Recently the young rapper released two singles Vhura Bhachi which features Munya Vybz (Munyaradzi Nyamidzi) who happens to be the rapper’s brother and Bhalabhala, which features Maestro IV.

Both singles are likely to be featured on his next project scheduled for this year.

The rapper has also been working on a couple of visuals this year, as he gears his fans for a great year.

He said he wanted to turn the game around and show that Bulawayo, like any other city, had good rappers.

Treazy, who possesses striking similarities to American superstar and rapper Lil Wayne, released the singles about a month ago.

The 25-year-old Treazy said he started rapping in 2009 and hasn’t stopped since.

“I had always been around but I made my way into the mainstream industry through the release of my EP. I have performed at a couple of shows and events such as Bigger Than Hip-hop and I have also been featured on ZTV’s YG programme.

Recently I performed at a rap get-together at Horizon,” he said.

“I hope people will continue to support me and my music as they always have. All I can say about it is that it’s unique and has a fresh taste. People are seeking uniqueness, something they can understand and relate with from experiences,” said Treazy.

He said rapping was a way of keeping out of trouble and also a platform to send a message to the youth.

“I’m trying hard to make my own sound, even though I do borrow my style from other rappers, to be precise my icon and favourite rapper Lil Wayne,” said Treazy.

Treazy is part of a growing movement of local rappers seeking to make a breakthrough in the industry.

When Treazy jumps on a track, he brings certain uniqueness. Place him on a cut with fellow titans, and his personality shines through.
