ZIMBABWE Cricket will look to the future when they send a national representative side to the inaugural edition of the Africa Twenty20 Cup in South Africa later this year. Lovemore Banda, the ZC media and communications manager said they will second a team with a bias towards development to the tournament, which will act as a curtain raiser to the start of domestic cricket in South Africa.

Zimbabwe, Kenya and Namibia have been included in the 16 team month-long tournament which will comprise four pools of four teams.
Zimbabwe will be in Pool A where they will play against Easterns, Northerns and Western Province between 4 and 6 September.

The group winners will then meet in the semi-finals on 3 October with the final set for the following day.
“We will send a side heavily favouring development. Note too that tournament rules say at least two Under-21 players in each team. CSA will host a squad of 14 players and two officials on a bed and breakfast basis and provide ground travel if required. ZC will meet the return travel from Harare to the venue of group match or semi-final or final and daily allowances,’’ said Banda.

Former South African fast bowler Makhanya Ntini has been appointed the Africa T20 Ambassador.
