A NEW gospel choir — Gospel Unplugged is seeking to make a ground breaking entry into the industry, as it is set to release a unique eight-track gospel album, which boats of using traditional musical instruments.

The album Sounds of Africa is set to be launched on 30 September during this year’s edition of the annual Intwasa Festival.

With the songs mostly sung in vernacular and English, the album will be greatly appealing to music lovers that have an appreciation of traditional music.

The group leader and director Sam Chokuda said it was about time the group launched a project, as their music was greatly appealing to many people.

“It took about a year to compile and record. This is our debut album and we hope it has a lasting effect on our listeners and followers,” said Sam.

He said the album had a fresh flare and didn’t have any rendition of any song.

“We write our own songs and we would like to thank all those that have worked and believed in us,” said Sam.

He added that so far they had only been performing at church events and now sought to made headway into the mainstream music industry.

“The group was formed in 2015 and consists of 12 members. We are grateful to the church, Harvest House and elders for the support particularly Bishop Colin Nyathi for the patience and believing in us,” said Sam. -@peterkmatika
