INSTAGRAM is one of the biggest social media platforms, and it’s a huge industry. Where there’s lots of money floating around, there’s inevitably going to be lies, secrets, and corruption. Instagram is now fighting to stay relevant, with strong competition from new social media companies like Snapchat, but they seem to be staying strong, with millions of users and people who make a living entirely through Instagram. Many of these professional Instagrammers are female models, and some of the most popular of these girls rival even well-known celebrities.
However, what goes on behind what we see on their Instagram pages? Surely their lives are not just about posing with glasses of moet on private jets. What we see is only the tip of the iceberg, and as you dig deeper into their personal lives, you find some pretty disturbing things, some writers claim. Do Instagram models really get all their money from Instagram? How do they afford trips overseas with no sign of any sponsors or even a full-time job? Do men really pay them to visit their countries? And what about all those women who look so perfect? Are they really “natural,” or do they starve themselves in order to compete with other girls on Instagram?
One controversy that is taking Twitter by storm is the modelling agencies with all these insta models, which never get booked for real modelling jobs. Certain accounts on Twitter have made it their mission to dig dirt and expose these insta models. The accounts pose as potential ‘‘blessers’’ in their DMs (direct messages), then post the screenshots as proof. Some of the women that used to be part of the click have come out to tell their stories.
Instagram models are under immense pressure to look their very best, all the time. The competition among women on Instagram is fierce, and if you want to succeed in the industry, you have to have an amazing body and be willing to show it off.
The women on Instagram are so fit it’s almost unbelievable. And for many women, the pressure to maintain that level of physical fitness can lead to some serious psychological issues, such as eating disorders. With so many fans, the top Instagram models are scrutinised about the minutest changes in their weight and shape.
Some of the girls were forthcoming about their “sex vacations,” and the Instagram models readily admitted that they get paid to visit men and offer them “services” in return for cash and paid vacations. You might come to the conclusion that many of these Instagram girls who are offering their bodies in return for money are being taken advantage of in some way. While this may very well be true, it’s not always the case.
There are sites that expose women who accept offers of money in return for sex and all expenses paid vacations to places like Dubai. These girls were investigated after people become suspicious about how exactly they’re paying for their many exotic vacations. These girls are then messaged with offers of sex vacations, but unknown to them the entire conversation is being recorded.
Many people would frown at the idea of an Instagram model offering her body in return for money and vacations. But the truth is, it’s not always women who are guilty of this. Another person who was exposed on one of these sites was a man who actually offered not only his own body, but also that of his girlfriend. It’s certainly not the lifestyle most people are familiar with.
It’s easy to gasp and lose your mind when you look at some pictures posted by Instagram models. They just seem to look so . . . perfect. But how perfect are they really? It’s a well-known fact that many Instagrammers photoshop their images to make them look more beautiful than humanly possible. Then there are the girls who post pictures of themselves after they’ve “just gotten out of bed” or are “all natural” claiming that they’re wearing no makeup when everyone knows that it’s a blatant lie. This is perhaps one of the most common secrets shared by all Instagram models. I mean, who hasn’t lied at some point when it comes to their images?
Regular girls and plain Janes will definitely feel the pressure to look and live the lives of these insta-models. Aint nothing wrong with living your life the way you want to but just be careful. Some of these models go overseas and just disappear, and the sad part is teenagers go on these accounts and aspire to be like the Instagrammers; not knowing how they got the trips to Dubai, Gucci bags and Louis Vuitton bags.
