THE Institute of People Management of Zimbabwe has partnered with the National University of Science and Technology (Nust) to allow their graduates to further their education at the university in order to meet demands of the local industry whose dynamics are changing regularly.
In an interview last week on the sidelines of an IPMZ graduation in Bulawayo, the institute’s president, Mr Marshall Pemhiwa, said they wanted  aspiring managers to continue acquiring knowledge for the benefit of the country.

He said Nust has agreed to enrol IPMZ graduates on a special entry basis for the Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Human Resources Management.

“Those with diplomas will start at first year level while higher national diploma graduates will start as second years,” said Mr Pemhiwa.

He said they were also discussing with other universities in the country to come up with similar arrangements.
“We are also in discussions for a similar arrangement with other universities like Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) and Midlands State University (MSU),” he said, adding that a memorandum of understanding with MSU was already in place.

Mr Pemhiwa also congratulated all the graduates for joining the IPMZ community, which he said was for vibrant and successful people.

“The source of our pride is that whenever there is an advertisement in the paper, IPMZ qualifications are listed as top priority,” he said,

Guest speaker at the event, Mr Johnstone Ranganayi, a lecturer and industrial attachment co-ordinator  at Nust, said the graduates should play a leading role in ensuring that Zimbabwe unlocks maximum value from its human capital.

“The nation also looks up to you for innovative solutions to some of its challenges. Not only as employees of organisations but also as entrepreneurial wealth creators who will create employment for others,” said Mr Ranganayi.

A total of 36 graduates were awarded Diplomas and Higher National Diplomas during the ceremony.
