After weeks of anticipation, local kwaito star Kadder has finally premiered her Yes I am music video in which she features her partner Khoikhoi. Speaking to Sunday Life, Kadder described her single as an anthem for all people to enjoy regardless of their age and background.
“Yes I am is a song which encourages people to be proud of their identity, nationality and background as Zimbabweans. It also hails Bulawayo, the City of Kings and my pride for the ghetto. It is meant for both the young, and the old,” said the 27-year-old songstress.
The video was shot at different venues around Bulawayo and features members of the Bulawayo public. The Mafela Primary School Drum Majorettes as well as Simunye Arts and Kasi Vibes take centre stage in the video while cameo roles are played by the general public.
“Saturday’s premier was a huge achievement for me. I am happy about the support and feedback I have received so far. It was very well attended and people appreciated our work. It proved to me that Bulawayo has the potential to fill up venues,” she said.
On working with Khoikhoi, Kadder could not help but gush, “Working with Khoi Khoi is refreshing, he inspires me and pushes me to the limits and he always has my back.
I enjoy working with him. I think the fact that we have been together for so long and are still so in love makes our music even better.
Kadder says she will release her first album next year. A woman of many talents, Kadder hosts an online arts show called Kasi Vibes and is a Fresh Juice Wear Brand Ambassador. – Nkosilesisa Ncube
