HAWKFLIGHT Enterprises managing director Mr Mngane Ncube and Ms Maideyi Makope of Mzansi 4 Sure were on Friday crowned the 2014 Bulawayo’s Megafest businessman and businesswoman of the year at a colourful ceremony held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair’s exhibition centre.
The Hawkflight Enterprises proprietor won the coveted prize ahead of the duo of Fazak retail owner, Mr Zak Hawa and Techno Expert’s Mr Urther Evans who were tied as the first runners-up.

Mr Cephas Murambiwa of Early Ashes and Mr Antony Pote of Pote Holdings were also tied as the second runners-up.
Ms Makope, the owner of trendy clothing outlets, Mzansi 4 Sure scooped the businesswoman of the year award ahead of Mystique Functions proprietor, Mrs Leanne Muller who settled for the first runner up slot while the owner of an up-market lodge, Montgomery Gardens, Mrs Khonza Ncube was the second runner-up.

Mr Ncube said he was humbled by the recognition stating that he would not have achieved this without the commitment of his entire workforce.

“I am very pleased to have received this accolade but I wouldn’t have done it without the assistance and commitment shown by my management team and the entire workforce at Hawkflight Enterprises.

“We have over the years received accolades of this nature and to us it is a clear testimony that our work is being appreciated by all and sundry but this will not let us rest on our laurels but we will continue to strive for even better service provision,” he said.

Hawkflight Enterprises was registered in 2000 and is involved in the construction, retail and transport industry in Matabeleland region.
Ms Makope urged fellow women to work hard in order to persevere in the man dominated business front.

“I am very excited and I thank God for without him I wouldn’t be this far. I also urge women who are venturing into business to look into their dream, resist distractions and never tire in their path of following their dreams” she said.

Speaking at the awards ceremony Megafest chief executive officer Dr Tafadzwa Matsika said the success of today’s businesses hinged on linkages.

“In this changing business landscape, where companies are operating more like interconnected systems than isolated machines, where they are becoming more permeable and interdependent than rigid and independent, it’s becoming more and more evident that our thinking must be holistic. It must take into account that all the relationships I have been describing have an impact on each other,” Dr Matsika said.
