THE Zimbabwe Football Association’s woes continue to mount amid revelations that a creditor has made moves to attach the football governing body’s Bulawayo offices.

The association’s Bulawayo offices are set to be auctioned in less than a month unless the association makes immediate plans to offset a debt owed to CBZ.

Addressing delegates at an annual general meeting, the association’s regional chairman Musa Mandaza said without elaboration the Bulawayo office will go under the hammer on 13 March over debts. However, Sunday News Sport understands CBZ had made efforts to recover money owed to them by the association.

The money was reportedly forwarded to Zifa to ensure the national senior men’s team fulfils some of their fixtures last year.

Literally letting the cat out of the bag, Mandaza, said:

“The problems bedevilling our national association run deeper than we had envisaged. At the beginning of February, we received papers from the courts advising us that our offices would go under the hammer on 13 March 2015 over debts owed by the national association.

“We are still awaiting official communication from the national association on the status quo of the matter.’’

Mandaza said they were not aware of the creditors as they only learnt from auctioneers who visited their offices that the building would go under the hammer next month.

Although the exact figure owed the bank could not be verified sources at Zifa said it could be just above a million dollars. Previous media reports indicated that Zifa owed CBZ $1,568,902.

The country’s football governing body has been under siege in recent months with various creditors swooping on their various properties as they sought to recover their dues.

Property at Zifa offices in Harare and Zifa Village have been attached and some have been auctioned or is in the process of being sold following court action by various individuals and companies that include former communication manager, Nicky Dlamini-Moyo, CBZ and Pandhari Lodge.

Zifa president, Cuthbert Dube’s personal property was nearly carted away by the Deputy Sherriff in Harare and the association’s board member for finance, Benard Gwarada had his property attached over a $27 000 Zifa debt owed to another commercial bank, FBC Bank.

Both Dube and Gwarada had come as guarantors when the football body required funds to fulfil national assignments.
