MEMBERS of Lubhangwe community, south of Maphisa Growth Point in Matobo District, Matabeleland South have started building classrooms at Lubhangwe Primary School that were destroyed by a storm that hit the area last year.

The school had only two classroom blocks and two cottages, all that were damaged when a storm hit the area leaving the school unsafe for learners.

“We actually had two blocks from time immemorial and both were destroyed. We have started to build a block and we intend to go as far as enough blocks for each grade. Villagers are moulding bricks while other material is being donated by locals working in Botswana and South Africa,” project co-ordinator Mr Nkululeko Hadebe said in an interview.

Mr Hadebe said children at the school were learning under trees, adding they wanted to build up to five blocks and are appealing for donations from well-wishers and former students.
