A 19-YEAR-OLD cheeky rapist from Chivi who urinated into one of his victims’ mouth for trying to resist rape has been slapped with a 25-year jail term for raping three sisters and stealing valuables from them on different occasions.
Masvingo regional magistrate Mr Bishard Chineka slapped Lancelot Munogwei from Headman Masunda area under Chief Chivi with a lengthy jail-term last week for the offences. He will, however, serve an effective 20 years for the rape and for stealing a Hisense mobile phone and US$1 from his victims after five years were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
Slapped with a 25-year jail term for raping three sisters
Prosecutor Ms Eunice Shoko told the court that Munogwei urinated into one of his victims’ mouth. He committed the crimes between August and December last year. Two of the victims are aged 14 while the third one is 18 and they are neighbours with Munogwei.
The first incident happened on 8 August last year at about 3pm when the girl was coming from extra school lessons.
Munogwei waylaid the girl in a bushy area and pinned her to the ground and raped her once despite the girl offering some resistance. After raping her, he took her phone and urinated into her mouth for trying to resist the rape. The girl did not disclose the matter to anyone.
The second incident happened on 23 December last year when Munogwei ambushed his second victim who was walking through a bushy path from the garden.
Okapi knife
He pinned her to the ground and produced an Okapi knife which he threatened her with if she made any noise. He then raped her once and went away with a US$1 that was in the girl’s pocket.
The third incident happened on an unknown date as the complainant was coming from school when Munogwei tripped the girl to the ground and raped her once. The minor went home and told her mother about the ordeal.
Her other siblings also revealed the rape cases to their mother at the hands of Munogwei and a report was made to the police leading to his arrest.
