CIVIL Servants have demanded to meet the Minister of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Cde Sekai Nzenza, Ministry of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube and the Civil Service Commission to discuss a possible review of their salaries and get a clarity on this year’s bonus.
In an interview yesterday, Apex Council chairperson Mrs Cecilia Alexander said the cost of living has eroded the 17,5 percent they negotiated this year hence a need for another review. The Government awarded the civil servants a 17,5 percent salary increase in July.

Mrs Alexander added that civil servants were also keen to get the Government to announce a position on bonus. Traditionally civil servants start receiving their bonuses in November.

“We also expect Government to give us information as regards to our bonus for 2018. Anything which affects conditions of service should be a product of engagement.”
