THE ruling Zanu-PF party has urged its members to put aside differences and concentrate on building the image of the party and spearhead development around the Government’s National Development Strategy 1.

This was said by the party’s Matabeleland North provincial chairman Cde Richard Moyo while addressing party members in Binga yesterday.

Binga has over the years raised issues of marginalisation but of late the Government has initiated a number of programmes to develop the area. Some of the projects include the Bulawayo Kraal Irrigation scheme, rehabilitation of the Binga Airstrip and Animal Extension Services offices, among others. The district has a large number of fishing co-operatives benefiting the local communities.

Cde Moyo said party District Co-ordinating Committees must be involved in spearheading development in the area.
“The major functions of the DCCs are to co-ordinate party districts and oversee the development of the district. The DCCs were inducted together with key heads of government departments and local chiefs.

This was done to ensure smooth coordinated approach to issues of development with DCCs taking a supervisory role,” said Cde Moyo.

Cde Moyo, who is also the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in Matabeleland North said villagers should come up with devolution projects as the Second Republic was people oriented.

“In line with the Devolution Agenda, each administrative district has been allocated large sums of money for development through the Rural District Council. Here in Binga the district was allocated $208 431 000 for devolution projects. These devolution projects must come from you at villages,” said Cde Moyo
Party mobilisation remains key to the party with a national target of five million voters, he said.

“In our last elections in 2018, the results of elections did not reflect the membership given by the cell/village structures. I therefore urge you to intensify cell/village formation ahead of the 2023 harmonised elections,” he said — @nyeve14.
