ONE of the country’s leading Simbisa Brands, Chicken Inn recently brought an early Christmas to Khayelihle Children’s Village by donating groceries worth more than $1 000.

Chicken Inn was also celebrating its 30th anniversary since its establishment in 1987.

Simbisa brands manager Mr Thabo Ncube said the company saw it fit to celebrate with the children and also lend a helping hand, especially during this season of giving.

“Today as we are marking 30 years of doing business, we saw it fit to come and celebrate with you. Surely you are our friends because of your support and we are very excited to be celebrating with you today.

“Having existed for 30 years, one has to look back to the people who have been a pillar of support. It is because of your presence and resilience that we are soldiering on. Therefore, as we plough back into the communities, it is our way of expressing our gratitude,” he said.

Khayelihle board chairperson Mr Jackson Nyoni said the donation will go a long way in making sure that the children will have a lovely Christmas.

He said: “We are very happy today that Simbisa Brands identified a need and saw it fit to assist us. Chicken Inn has walked the talk and we are very grateful to them as they have already put us in a cheerful mood of celebrating Christmas.”

Khayelihle was established in 1991 and it provides shelter, education and food for the children. The village houses 54 children and also searches for vulnerable children in different communities such as Makokoba, Mzilikazi and Umguza District whom they assist.

The home is also into horticulture, dairy farming and poultry for self-sustainance. The surplus is sold in the city and the money generated banked to cater for the needs of the children.

The children enjoyed a Chicken Inn lunch and also ate the birthday cake.
