A BULAWAYO man has called on authorities to help protect him and his family amid allegations that they have been targeted following his son-in-law’s political activities.
Siza Nkomo revealed that his son-in-law, Given Zulu is an active member of the Nelson Chamisa led Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) who would help get party leaflets printed and distributed in the city and was actively involved on recruiting supporters for the party.
In an interview Mr Nkomo revealed that due to his political activities, Zulu had disappeared under mysterious conditions with reports that he had been abducted by supporters of the ruling Zanu-PF party.
“After Zulu disappeared, my daughter Fortune Nkomo was targeted for harassment after a missing person’s report had been opened with the police. Her crime was opening the case as people would come to their house threatening her. They would accuse her of knowing the whereabouts of her partner but at the same time claimed they knew where he was.
“At one point she was even abducted where she was sexually harassed and beaten. She was told that she was working in cahoots with her husband in producing opposition party material. After she was eventually released she changed and was now living in fear, that event left her traumatised,” said Mr Nkomo.
The father revealed that after Fortune’s abduction they had decided that she and her daughter Oluhle go into hiding but the harassment increased.
“These individuals are now attacking me, they accuse me of hiding the three and also working with the opposition which is why I have decided to approach the media to maybe raise the alarm and maybe the authorities can protect me and my family from all these harassment.
“As is one of my other daughter passed away under mysterious circumstances. They told us it was meningitis but truth is my daughter had no history of such an ailment or any ailment at all. I am desperate we can’t be harassed for my son-in-law’s political activities, we did not do anything on our part,” said Mr Nkomo.
