A number of low-density suburbs in Bulawayo will go for four days without water supplies, with the local authority reporting that it will be carrying out routine checks on the pipeline supplying the suburbs.
In a notice, the city’s Town Clerk, Mr Christopher Dube said the affected areas would be those fed by Tuli Reservior, with the water cuts set to start on Sunday (today) stretching up to Wednesday.
“The City of Bulawayo would like to advise members of the public that there will be interruption on water supplies to areas fed by Tuli Reservoir from Sunday, 9 January 2022 at 3PM to Wednesday, 12 January 2022 at 3PM.
“This interruption will allow for the inspection of cracks and soundness of the Clear Water Reservoir at Ncema (Built in 1955) that feeds into the Tuli Reservoir. Bulawayo City Council wishes to apologise to its valued consumers for the inconvenience likely to be caused and assures the affected residents that supplies will be restored once the treatment and subsequent pumping resumes at Ncema Water Works,” said Mr Dube.
The affected areas include Esigodini, Imbizo Barracks, Fortunes Gate, Selborne Park, Matsheumhlope, Parklands, Kumalo, Queenspark, Suburbs, Mahatshula, Woodville, Kingsdale, Lochview, Sunninghill, Marlands, Glencoe, Riverside, Waterford, Manningdale, Willsgrove, Buenavista and Douglasdale.
