A HWEDZA woman who operated a hair salon in Harare is in trouble after she held a Christmas celebration party for members of the LGBTI community.

The party is said to have gone on for the entire night with fellow tenants complaining claiming those who attended where now becoming a nuisance.

Chishamiso Hangazha, who is originally from Hwedza in Mashonaland East province, who owns the hair salon is said to have disappeared when she learnt that police were looking for her to answer questions relating to the gathering.

It has further been discovered that Hangazha was using her premises to be a meeting point for members of the LGBTI community where they were her also her customers.

“Information we have is that Chishamiso Hangazha was using her premises to hold such illegal gatherings and the Christmas day party was not the first as they have been a number of such parties at that premises.

“When our officers tried to get her for questioning she seems to have gone into hiding, we have tried even going to the hair salon but she is nowhere to be found. However, our investigations are still ongoing and we will bring those responsible to book,” reads a police statement.

A visit by this publication to the hair salon revealed that the premises has since been shut down, with neighbouring tenants claiming the salon has been closed since a few days after the said party.

“That Christmas day party has not been the first, these parties have been going on for too long, we have tried engaging with the owners but nothing seems to be resolved hence the reason we decided to approach the police.

“What we have further noted is that the participants at the party, who are mainly the LGBTI community will be too loud, we wish this can be resolved,” said a neighbouring tenant.
