Letters to the Editor: Kombis ripping commuters

The Sunday News

Residents of Ward Four were happy with the introduction of Zupco buses in the area, particularly in Waterford, however, things have now changed because the kombis are now cutting routes making u-turns in Matsheumhlophe or sometimes at Rio Hotel which is before Waterford.

Residents of Waterford are the ones who requested for the Zupco Bus Service but now it looks like they are being treated properly by Zupco kombis who are always complaining that Waterford is too far from the city centre and if they can spend the whole day making trips to the suburb they will not make any profit.

We hope that as Waterford residents Zupco management will hear our cries and come to our rescue because every time we are made to wait for long hours both in Waterford and also at the City Hall.

The other problem is that sometimes we have a bigger AVM bus which surprised many residents when it started to charge $2 per trip instead of $1 a trip like the other suburbs.

This bus which is popularly known as Queen Bee shocked us when people paid $3 to Hope Fountain but the following day it reduced it to $2 when passengers complained.

We hope Zupco management will give us a bigger bus which can leave Waterford around 7.30am so that commuters are not late for work.
Most of the time people end up using the expensive kombis as a result of the bus service which is not efficient.
People want to support Zupco so much and we hope it will solve our problems.
