A 36-YEAR-OLD Plumtree man has been arrested for allegedly raping his four-year-old niece.
The man from Manyewu Village in Sikhathini area under Chief Kandana is alleged to have raped his niece on 25 November.
The accused appeared at the Plumtree Regional Court before Mr Chihuta Dube with Ms Ruth Ncube prosecuting.
He was remanded in custody to 28 December for trial.
According to the State outline, the man who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the girl is said to have taken his niece to the grazing land on 25 November at around 3pm where he raped her.
“Upon arrival at Dali River, he then laid the complainant on the ground facing upwards and raped her once,” said Ms Ncube.
The abuse came to light later that same day at around 8pm when the victim complained to her mother that her private parts were painful and upon checking her the mother noticed some bruises.
The girl then revealed that she was raped by the accused at the grazing land.
The matter was reported to the police and the girl was referred to the hospital for medical examination which was then obtained and will be produced in court as an exhibit. — @angelnkomo5
