THE Minister of State for Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs, Cde Richard Moyo has threatened to evict two safari companies operating in Tsholotsho district, which have been feuding over hunting concessions for the past few years, saying they were failing to uphold their promise to develop the district.

Cde Moyo told Sunday News in an interview that he summoned both companies, Lodzi Hunters and Matupula Hunters, in a bid to get to the bottom of their feud, which has seen the companies taking each other to court.

“Tsholotsho South and North MPs alongside with the RDC council alerted me of what was happening between these two safari companies. This dispute seems to be a grudge, which happened a long time ago between these two companies and I do not know if these people are fighting over each other’s concession or what, but whatever it is has to be solved and they should maintain peace in Tsholotsho and fulfil the promises they made to develop the town.

“All they have done is to drag each other to court which has shifted their focus on what they promised to do in Tsholotsho. All we want is development in Tsholotsho and not to witness the feud between Lodzi and Matupula Hunters,” said Cde Moyo.

He said the dispute had been going on for a long time and the community was suffering from their feud.

“We want them to work in peace and respect the community. They must work together and fulfil their promises which is the most important thing, not for them to be seen fighting in court over petty issues.

“I promised to reverse their concessions and bring neutral players who are willing to develop Tsholotsho in peace and so they promised that they will work together and in peace upon hearing that I assigned the RDC council to alert me if there were any changes,” said Cde Moyo.
