Placing a demand on the anointing

The Sunday News

Sunday Sermon, with Apostle Chisale
Greetings beloved nation in the name of Jesus Christ. According to books of the gospels in the bible we discover that Jesus was a man of miracles, signs and wonders and wherever he went he was always healing the sick, delivering and setting free those who were bound.

The book of John 21:25 tells us that Jesus did many others things, if all could be written down, the whole world would have no room for the books that would be written.

We also discover that in the bible there were certain individuals who received their miracles, their healing, their deliverance, their breakthrough. Why? Because they placed a demand on the anointing that was on Jesus. When we talk about placing a demand on a God-given anointing, underline ‘God-given anointing’, it means to express a deep desire or hunger for the supernatural manifestation of God’s power. Placing a demand on the anointing will cause you to enter into the realm of the miraculous.

The bible tells us in Luke 5:17 that, “One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick”.

We discover here that the power they are talking about is the miraculous power of God to heal, deliver and set free which comes with His manifest presence. God is omnipresent so there is never a time when His presence is not there and His manifest presence comes with the miraculous power that we read about in Luke 5:17. Most believers have not been taught how to receive and get their needs met because they have not been taught how to place a demand on the power of God.

Many a times we have services in our churches where the presence of God is so heavy, yet we have people who leave the service still the same, not having received from the power that was present simply because they have not learnt how to place a demand on the anointing present.

People leave the same still sick, still bound by demons, their needs not met, yet the power of God was present to heal, deliver and set free. The bible tells us in Mark 3:10 that, “For he had healed many, so that those with diseases were pushing forward to touch him”. Jesus attracted such crowds that they would push forward to touch him because of the anointing he was carrying.

It is important to note that it is not ‘accidental’ touching of Jesus that we are talking about, but rather the deliberate conscious demand that is placed on anointing. In Luke 8:43-48 the bible tells us about the woman with the issue of blood. She heard that Jesus was coming into town and she was determined that she was going to make her way to wherever he was so that she could receive her healing. She had to push through a crowd and she was telling herself ‘if only I could touch the hem of his garment, I will be made whole’.

There were many people pushing and touching Jesus at that time. When Jesus asked ‘who touched me’, he was not talking about the accidental touching, but that someone had made a deliberate choice to draw from the anointing he was carrying, in other words they placed a demand on the anointing.

This woman went there expecting to receive her healing, she had faith that if she touched Jesus, she would receive her miracle. And Jesus in verse 48 says, “Then he said to her, Daughter, your faith has healed you”.

In the book of Mark 2:1-5, we read the story about four friends who heard that Jesus was in town and they carried their paralysed friend wanting him to get healed by Jesus. But because of the crowd that was in the house, they decided to dig open the roof and lower their friend through the roof to where Jesus was.

The bible tells us in verse 5 that, “When Jesus saw their faith”. It is interesting that the bible doesn’t tell us about the healing of other people who were there as he preached. Yet this paralysed person gets healed because his friends placed a demand on the anointing present, in other words they had faith and they came expecting to receive. So as believers we have to learn to recognise the strong presence of God and to cooperate with it, meaning we have to learn to connect to the presence or the flow of the spirit that will be there during the service.

Not only should we learn how to recognise and cooperate with the presence of God, but we should learn how to place a demand on it in order to receive and benefit from it. Placing a demand on the power of God is not difficult once you are taught how to do it. One thing that stops us from receiving and benefiting from the presence of God is unbelief.

The bible tells us in Mark 6:5-6 that, “He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. And he was amazed at their lack of faith”.

Many believers are failing to receive their healing, deliverance or breakthroughs because of unbelief. At times as believers we get so used to the men and women of God because some of them are our relatives, friends, husbands or wives, so we go to services with a wrong attitude of ‘what can so and so tell me or do’ and in the process we miss out on what God wants to do in our lives.

We get so used to the men and women of God that we go there not expecting to receive from them, yet they are the ones carrying the anointing of God. It is my prayer that as believers we learn how to recognise the presence of God in a place and learn how to place a demand on the power present and receive from it, then we shall live victorious lives with results.

I would like to invite you to receive Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour, by believing in your heart and confessing with your mouth that he is your Lord and saviour, and you shall be saved. May God bless you all and this beautiful nation of Zimbabwe. Amen.
