A 33-YEAR-OLD man from Mbundane Suburb, Bulawayo has appeared in court for allegedly stealing a bull in Umguza.

Welcome Moyo appeared before Western Commonage magistrate Mr Shepherd Mjanja last week charged with attempted stock theft as defined in section 114 (2)(i)(iii) as read in section 189 of the criminal law codification and reform act.

He was remanded in custody to Wednesday for trail. Prosecutor Miss Melissa Dube told the court that Moyo and his accomplices, one arrested and two are at large, on 16 September last year sneaked into Mrs Felicia Moyo’s kraal, tied the bull with wire on its rear legs and on the neck before dragging it into the nearby forest where they tried to kill it.

A misunderstanding arose between Welcome and his colleagues resulting in Welcome chickening out of the deal. His colleagues later left the bull tied to a wire in the bush and went away.

One of his accomplices, Thembalami Ndlovu has been arrested and sentenced while the other two accused are still at large.

In 2020, Moyo was also arrested for attempted murder after he tried to kill his brother-in-law over a mealie-meal dispute.

Meanwhile, a 19-year-old teenager from Mapulabusi Line, Tsholotsho has been arrested at a roadblock while attempting to flee to South Africa.

He was wanted by police to answer to charges of attempted murder. Albert Ndlovu, last week appeared before Tsholotsho magistrate Mr Victor Mpofu to answer to charges of attempted murder. He was remanded in custody for trial to 19 April.

According to the prosecutor, Mrs Tarisai Mujokoro on 31 March at Mapulabusi Line Ndlovu assaulted Anele Dube (18) with a screw driver on the forehead once after an altercation. T

he altercation rose after Dube demanded beer from Ndlovu on their way home from a beer binge at Mapulabusi kiosk.

Ndlovu however, disappeared but was arrested days later, at a roadblock while in a car that was heading to South Africa. It also emerged in court that Ndlovu was previously arrested for disorderly behaviour.

Investigations are that Dube’s condition is critical and a medical report will be produced in court as an exhibit.
