THREE Zanu-PF Midlands provincial members who were being accused by Ministers Makhosini Hlongwane, Anastasia Ndhlovu and Tapiwanashe Matangaidze of denigrating them and other senior party members were yesterday cleared of any wrong doing.

The three are secretary for security Cde Owen Ncube, youth league secretary for administration, Cde Justice Mayor Wadyajena, youth chairperson Cde Edmore Samambwa. Cdes Ncube, Wadyajena and Samambwa were accused of among other allegations of vilifying, undermining as well as denouncing Cdes Hlongwane, Matangaidze and Ndhlovu in public, harassing them following their recent ministerial appointments accusing them of being part of a “Generation 40” grouping in the party. A disciplinary committee was set by the province to investigate the matter and concluded that the three had no case to answer.

“It is the conclusion of this committee that there are no reasonable grounds for even suspecting that the accused persons committed the alleged acts of misconducts. The allegations are just bold and lacking substantiation. It appears the complainants sat down and connived to fabricate these allegations to paint a very negative picture of the Midlands Province in the eyes of the First Family. There was a clear desperate attempt by the complainants to try and involve the names of President Mugabe and First Lady Amai Grace Mugabe,” reads part of the conclusion of the findings by the investigating committee.Zanu-PF Midlands provincial spokesperson Cde Cornelius Mpereri confirmed that the investigations were over and the findings would be forwarded to the commissariat. “We had an extraordinary (Provincial Co-ordinating Committee) meeting where the findings of the investigations were presented. They will be taken to the National Commissar,” he said. The hearings were necessitated after the trio wrote a letter to National Political Commissar Cde Savior Kasukuwere alleging that Cdes Ncube, Wadyajena and Samambwa had been threatening them. According to the charge sheet, Cde Ncube was accused of having chanted slogans during a meeting at the provincial party office denigrating the trio as well as the three Politburo members while Cde Wadyajena accused Cde Matangaidze and his colleague of being part of “G40”.
