AFFIRMATIVE Action Group national vice-president Samuel Ncube has been ordered to perform 210 hours of community service, after he was convicted of contempt of court on Friday.
Ncube appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Miss Rachel Mukanga facing charges of contravening section 182 (2) (e) of the criminal law (codification and reform act chapter 9:23), after he refused to vacate a house he was ordered to leave by the courts.
Miss Mukanga slapped Ncube with a nine-month jail term, of which three months were suspended for the next five years on condition he is not found in contempt of court again, in any offence. The remaining six months were also suspended on condition he performs and completes 210 hours of community service at the United Bulawayo Hospitals.
Ncube was found guilty after he refused to vacate a house he is occupying in Bulawayo’s Selbourne Park suburb, after the courts granted an eviction order.
Ncube used to own the house but it was sold in a public auction.
In June this year the High Court quashed an appeal by Ncube, where he was challenging an eviction order from the said house.
