THE 46-year-old man from Inyathi accused of murdering his wife and cousin in a domestic dispute last month, has been remanded in custody pending trial.

Amos Nkala of Balanda area, Village 7, Ward 8 in Bubi District is facing two counts of murder.

He is accused of bludgeoning his wife and cousin with a hammer, stabbing them with a spear several times, before fleeing from the scene.

Nkala is scheduled to appear in court on 25 June facing two counts of murder.

Nkala was not asked to plead when he appeared before Inyathi magistrate Mr Collen Chiruma.

Presenting the facts for the State, Miss Nokuthula Chitsango said Nkala killed his wife and cousin in cold blood, after a domestic row.

She said the incident occurred on 20 May this year, where he stabbed the women, after bashing their heads with a hammer.

Nkala who had been on the run from the time of committing the offence in May was apprehended on 1 June this year.

He was arrested in Gutu District in Masvingo, where he had sought refuge at a relative’s home.

Nkala has since been transferred from an Inyathi prison where he was being held to Khami Maximum Prison.
