LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: Time to start working

The Sunday News

NKAYI ROAD

I am appealing to all those who were voted into offices in the just ended harmonised elections to work for the people who voted for them by developing their areas.

We all know that our country is lagging behind in terms of development and technology and it is now the duty of the newly elected members of parliament, Senators and councillors to join hands for the sake of uplifting people’s standards of living without looking at one’s tribe, race, religion or political affiliation.

We must know that as Zimbabweans we are one so we need to work together as a country.

If you can go to any province in Zimbabwe you will find that people are always complaining about things like roads which are in bad state, clinics and hospitals which have got no adequate staff as well as essential drugs such as ARVs.

We also have both primary and secondary schools which are very far from each other and in the process forcing many children to drop out of school. We hope that transport problems in most parts of the country will be solved as per promises by councillors and members of Parliament when they were campaigning.

We don’t expect the newly elected people to disappear from the people and resurface about five years from now seeking re-election.

In rural areas people are still walking very long distances to reach the nearest clinic or bus stop as most roads are bad, a station which has forced bus operators to pull out of some routes complaining that the dangerous roads were not only damaging their buses but they were putting the lives of the people at risk since accidents are common on such roads.
